What would be volts and amps of cell if iron used as anode and air at 3000 PSIa as gas cathode?
I need to calculate the total watt output of a cell under high pressure. Someone answered once that at 4 atmospheres of air I would get a 0.03 Volt increase (using the Nernst equation). However an amperage drop was indicated. If I made a cell with a solid iron anode and 3000 psi air disassociated on a carbon cathode what would be the voltage of the cell (as compared to 0.85 at 1 atmosphere)? Would the overall watt output increase (how much) or would the amp drop (if there is one) cancel the power gained from the voltage rise? Thank you very much to anyone who can give a detailed but laymans explanation and answer to this query!

You actually have to calculate wattage? That's impossible, at least using the information you gave. Wattage isn't determined by the Nernst equation, it's determined by the surface area of the electrodes, and the kinetics of electron transfer at both of the electrode surfaces, with a little electrolyte concentration factored in..
Voltage is easy. Just convert the PSI to atmospheres and treat it like molarity as you would normally in the Nernst equation. Just remember that air is only 20% oxygen.
