What is the difference between a "White" Microsoft Recharable Battery Pack and a "Black" one for the Xbox 360?

I know the black one is for the Elite, but will the white battery pack do the same thing as the black battery pack? Can you use a white battery pack in a black controller?

They are the exact same except for the color. You can buy black controllers separately now, and use either the white or black battery packs with them.
