Who ever decided that black cameras were the only serious ones?

Cameras began as wood...brown. Once they became portable they were made in black. A color I find odd since heat and light can have adverse effects on film and black absorbs light. (Gosh, even Ford started with only black cars!) So what makes black "serious"? What's not serious about navy blue?

Now with wine makers and lap top manufacturers realizing the importance of appealing to women and women's role in the economy, why not appeal to women color wise with "serious" cameras of appealig colors?

A black camera has always been considered more inconspicuous than a shiny silver one. Plus, black cameras were thought to be less likely to cause unwanted reflections from studio lights.
