Paintball pump marker/ paintball pistol combo question?

Ok, I was thinking about starting to get into paintball. I've rented a custom-98 at a field and played it there, and I liked it (the sport). I was thinking about getting a pump marker, because they are generally inexpensive, and you aren't being weighed down by the hopper. Then I also considered getting a paintball pistol, since its compact, semi auto, and price is also pretty good. Now heres the question. Are the paintball pistols ammo clip (not magazine style, the tube over the barrel style) compatable with a pump- style marker? It would be much more convienient to just have one type of clip for both guns, since Ill be using both alot for different situations.

Not compatible to my knowledge. The top-style clip on pb pistols kind of clip into place or are on a hinge & snap secure while tubes on top of pumps (i imagine you're talking about Phantoms or similar?) screw on and have a cap on the end. Those pumps may have an upgrade available where you can quick-switch the tubes instead of refilling them but even those aren't going to be compatible.
