Scuba Mask Maintenance - Tips on how to take care of your scuba diving mask

 Maintaining your mask

There are 3 basic maintenance procedures which should be used in all diving/snorkeling equipment.

•Rinse thoroughly with freshwater after each use - After you have used your mask in saltwater, it should be soaked for several minutes in warm freshwater to prevent the build up of salt crystals which could damage the seals of your mask. A rinse with freshwater will eliminate contaminants and corrosion.

•Avoid leaving your mask in direct sunlight - This is because the rays from the sun can eventually damage neoprene and silicone products.

•Store in a dry cool place - It is important that you dry your mask before storing it. Do not leave you equipment wet in a closed environment like your snorkeling equipment bag. Also take care to store your silicone mask away from black rubber products to prevent staining of silicone.

Follow the above mentioned procedures and you can be guaranteed that you snorkeling mask will last you for several years of snorkeling adventures.

Mask Defogging Tips and Techniques

Whether you are scuba diving or snorkeling, a fogging mask gets to be extremely irritating. There are 2 simple mask defogging techniques which may be used. My favorite technique is before every dive, I use a mask defogger solution.

In my experience, I find these commercially prepared solutions to work extremely well. In fact this solution is always stored away with my mask... For me this solution is like an extension of the scuba mask just like the snorkel.

Basically before every dive just put a couple of drops on the lenses and rub around and rinse off the mask defogger solution thoroughly so as not to enter your eyes.

The next technique, I usually use after not wearing the mask for a prolonged period of time. Rub a non, gel tooth paste around the lenses. Just use a small amount of toothpaste as it may get within the seals and will therefore be hard to rinse out. Leave it for 5 minutes and rinse thoroughly making sure that no residue of toothpaste remains as this will sting your eyes when wearing your mask under water.

How can I clear my mind?

Around when I was 10 I became extremely distressed that suddenly while on vacation, it felt as though everything I was experiencing was fake, like everything I was doing was just myself watching it in front of a television. Now at age 21 It's consumed most of my life. I didn't even bother to help decorating for Christmas because it would feel meaningless.

I'm totally jaded towards most of the music and other media that changed the way I think 5 years ago when it was new to me.

I have terrible brain fog that literally feels like a wad of fluff stuck in head, and that makes learning or thinking about anything that I don't strongly care about feel like chasing after a book through a thick, foggy gel.

Thanks for any help/direction.

If you have trouble thinking clearly and your mind wanders alot I would talk to a professional to get a true diagnosis

you could be having what we call as "racing thoughts"

Brain fog may also develop as a result of a variety of other physical conditions, including, but not limited to, adrenal exhaustion, food and chemical reactions, and nutritional deficiencies. It may also be caused by stress, depression, or denial. In fact, brain fog may provide an escape to individuals dealing with high levels of stress or conflict. By retreating into a fog, individuals are able to avoid the sadness, frustration, and anger typical of stressful situations.

Some people with long-lasting brain fog believe that they are stupid and simply unable to think clearly. However, this is not the case. Those with knowledge and experience with the condition assert that it is not a result of low intelligence, but a real disorder with causes, symptoms, and treatments.
