How to play the snake in paintball: Tips and tactics, field knowledge, communication and more!

On the paintball field, the snake is one of the most unique and versatile bunkers, but it can also be the hardest as well as most damaging.  The layout of the snake in tournament paintball can vary so much, that it is important to have a solid understanding of the game and how the play this bunker.  The pace of speedball is of course fast, so the opportunities to gain advantages over the other team, makes moves and take shots is small.  Therefore expanding your knowledge of the game and your experience is key to becoming a better paintball player.  There are tons of different paintball tips, tactics and techniques for the snake, and a lot of them depend of game situations and field layouts.  Here's my big tip, watch and play against players better than you, ask questions and watch videos.  Practice!

Fundamentals

Communication is vital for snake players, as your vision will be obstructed much more than other players laying down behind a solid bunker.  The ability to communicate the entire game, and field awareness is the foundation for becoming a good paintball player.  Learn to communicate with your back and corner players.  Listen and relay information to teammates.

In terms of actual play, knowing what to do starts before the game does, especially for tournament paintball.  Walk the field, looking for the safest or fastest path to get behind bunker and out of lanes (read: not always the shortest).  Memorize where the shots are, especially cross field, so you can come up with your marker shooting.  As a snake player, when you come up you don't have much time before an opponent may see or shoot at you, so you need to be quick, decisive and accurate.

Game Tips

Avoid gun battling especially with a corner.  When your in the dirt or on your knees your in a dominated position, and are much slower at snap shooting.  Staying low and taking up guns helps your teammates even if your not doing anything.  Stay alive!

Playing the snake is very dependent on the field layout in terms of where to play.  Especially on paintball layouts where the snake is a ladder, many players will try to get as far up the snake as possible while the opponents corner is clear or dominated on the tape.  This gives players the  biggest angles as fast as possible with the element of surprise.  However many snakes are separated and require more finesse to move up the field since players across the field can shoot you.  This is why suporting players (corners) behind you can have so much influence on your play since they can control your tape, keep you safe and let you move up.

does walmart sell paintball guns if so what type?

im getting my friend a paint ballgun but i dont now what type and i dont want to drive to a paintball arena cuz the closet one is half an hour away and if walmart does sell paintball guns what type and how much

yeah they do .. they sell cheap plastic ones and expensive metal ones that are NICE.. they sell paintballs and the Air tank s..

plastic ones are like $50
metal ones are like $150
the automatic metal is the best
