Since there is not much option available for upgrading the Vista Basic or Premium to, this Win 7 upgrade seems to be the most viable solution. The Vista users as well get a cheaper option of upgrade to Windows 7 Premium compared to the XP users. Now, there are some negative aspects to the Win 7 upgrade from Vista however. But, this may probably not be affecting the majority of the users. The upgrade paths from Vista to Win 7 have actually been limited to certain upgrade paths. Now, in case if none of these three upgrade paths are not followed by the end user, they will have to go with a complete fresh installation.
