A question about my M16-Apex barrel for my Tippmann A5?

So I've had my M16-Apex barrel for some time now and it is great, but I have just one question. When it is attached should the whole barrel turn or just the tip, or is there some way to lock it in place? Cause when I attach it the barrel will keep twisting until it locks but it locks somewhat upside down. Thank you for any help.
